El works for MPC, the VFX powerhouse that did all the animation on the smash hit movie.
As ever, we recommend that all our students attend events like this one; they are a window into the animation production process and also great opportunities for industry networking.
Escape Studios
The event will be taking place at Escape Studios in central London on the evening of 22nd August, from 6.30pm. The event is free, and you can sign up here.
Lion King (2019) |
El Suliman was a lead animator at MPC Film, and will be coming to Escape Studios at 190 High Holborn to talk at one of their regular “Evening with…” events on Thursday 22nd August at 6.30pm.
Where and When
This event takes place in room 2.8/2.9 (on the 2nd floor) at 190 High Holborn WC1.
MPC Animation
London VFX powerhouse MPC have raised the bar for animal and creature animation with Disney's release of The Lion King, the re-make of the 1994 Disney classic.
The Lion King is a triumph not just of technology but of great storytelling, as the film-makers kept most of the original film but wove in new elements to keep the story fresh.
Director Jon Favreau and Chiwetel Ejiofor, voice of Scar |
The animal animation feels so believable that you forget you're watching animation; as you slip into a David Attenborough world so realistic that you are seldom aware the entire film is just pixels.
Favreau's Easter Egg
The whole film is digital - every blade of grass, every whisker. Apart, that is, from one shot, which was filmed with a camera; this is Favreau's cheeky (and very confident) challenge to audiences to see if they can spot the one element of the film which isn't created with CG magic.
El Suliman
El Suliman is a talented animator with a wealth of animation and VFX experience. You can read an interview with El Suliman here.
