Media Resources at Bucks - how it works

Dump your mouse - pick up a tablet instead
Media Resources is the place where students at Bucks go to get tech stuff. You can find Wacom tablets, video cameras, motion capture equipment, sound recording kit - Media Resources have it all. You'll find it in the Gateway Building on the way to RustyBucks cafe - just take a right turn off the main corridor, walk past the Green Screen Room and it's on your left.

How does it work?
First, you have to set up a user account online, so you can sign up to the booking system. It's easy, you just need your email address and a password. Here's the link: https://bucksresources.siso.co/index.php

What next?
Much of the equipment needs 24 hour notice of booking, such as cameras and the like. But for the Wacom tablets, all you need to do is turn up, show your ID card at the desk, and ask for a tablet. When you are done with it, you simply return it to Media Resources.

Why use a Wacom tablet?

We strongly recommend using a tablet rather than a mouse. The mouse is associated with many health problems such as repetitive strain injury and carpal tunnel syndrome.

To make sure you aren't working in a way which might seriously damage your own health, check out our post on the ideal animator's workstation here.

When should you use a Wacom tablet?
Anytime you plan on doing any computer animation or digital artwork. So get yourself down to Media Resources and check one out.
