Free Motion Graphics Webinar on April 1st

Learn to animate client storyboards
Now that our students are studying and learning from home, it's important to take advantage of all the opportunities available for online study.

Next week, Escape Studios is hosting a free Motion Graphics Webinar on April 1st.  In this free webinar, students will learn how to animate client-approved storyboards; Adam will explain how to import storyboards into Adobe After Effects and create a rough animatic, before moving onto final animation.

Motion Graphics guru Thiago Maia is hosting a free webinar in Motion Graphics tomorrow, Tuesday 31st July.

In this webinar Thiago will show how to apply the famous "12 Principles of Animation" to motion graphics work in Adobe After Effects, to create better and more flexible animation.

Lyuboslav Angelov 3D Artist at Mandala FX

Many congratulations to Lyuboslav Angelov,  one of our recent graduates from the Animation and VFX course at Bucks, who has landed a job as a 3D Artist at Mandala FX in High Wycombe.

Mandala FX describe themselves as a "full service, end to end creative studio...specialising in high end 3D renders and motion graphics". We congratulate Lyuboslav on a great start to his digital career. To see more of Lyuboslav's work, check out his graduation demo reel at our YouTube channel.

Online MA Student Jeton Lakna Reinvents the Bucks New Uni Logo


We're enjoying this new take on the Bucks New Uni Logo by Online MA student Jeton Lakna. The exercise is in set building, texturing, lighting and rendering - the idea being to get all our online students up to speed with the basic building blocks of the 3d pipeline. Jeton's work is a fun new take on Bucks branding - and also shows off some great CG skills.

Motion Graphics by Sham Salim



Recently our first year animators completed a motion graphics assignment with Bucks lecturer Rob Kelly, whose stunning Idents for BBC 2 and other channels can still be seen playing on broadcast TV today. The brief was to create an advert for a new product - a watch. Our students delivered some excellent work, most of which was done in After Effects, a piece of software that few had tried before. One of the most successful is the one you can see above, done by first year animator Sham Salim.

Bucks Tutor Rob Kelly Talks About His Work On BBC 2 Idents

Rob Kelly is a director with a long track record in the TV industry, and of course he is one of the tutors on the Animation and Visual Effects course at Bucks. Rob lectures in motion graphics, primarily using AfterEffects to teach our animation students (amongst others) to create excellent motion graphics work. Bucks Animation Graduate Ben Chalk Launches a New Campaign for United Agency

Bucks Animation graduate Ben Chalk works for the design agency United Agency, doing digital and social campaigns for commercial clients. We asked him to tell us about his latest work, how he got started, and what advice he can give to our students at Bucks in order to forge a successful career in the world of design, animation and motion graphics. He has just finished the design work for a new campaign, The Great Outdoors app for Thomas Cook and Brand USA, which launched this week.

Graduate Showcase - Jens Kopke on animation, awards, motion graphics and careers in digital media




Jens Kopke is one of our talented animation graduates from Bucks, who has since found work in his native Hamburg as a motion design artist at DeliPictures. His short film (shown above) was completed right here in High Wycombe and combined live action with visual effects and motion graphics, winning an honourable mention at the D&AD Awards. We asked Jens to talk about his film, what he has been doing since graduating from university, and what it takes to forge a successful career in digital media.

Student Showcase - SyFy Channel Ident by Krzysztof Michalski.


This is an ident (that is to say, a "station identification") created for the SyFy channel by Krzysztof Michalski, now in his third year at Bucks. Krzysztof completed this short piece in his second year; the brief was to do an ident for a TV channel. Broadcasters use idents to remind viewers what they are watching and also to help develop their brand identities. Motion Graphics work is a big and growing market for animators and digital artists.
